             Preserving Our Stories
for More than One Hundred Years

Founded in 1916, the Columbia County Historical Society Museum & Library  
collects, preserves, and interprets the history, heritage, and culture of Columbia County, New York, and serves residents of all eighteen towns and the city of Hudson.

​For more than 100 years, thousands of people from all across the county and beyond have enjoyed our varied exhibitions, historic properties, and educational programs
. 

​A vital community resource, our collections include important and unique genealogical materials, archives, paintings, textiles, furniture and decorative arts relating to Columbia County's heritage.

is open seasonally along with the Ichabod Crane Schoolhouse.

Museum & Research Library

The Columbia County Historical Society includes a museum and library, as well as three additional historic properties open to the public.

The Columbia County Historical Society Museum & Library includes two galleries of changing exhibitions, a research library and reading room, collection storage, and administrative offices.

Multi-site passes are available seasonally for purchase which includes admission to the National Historic Landmark Luykas Van Alen House and the Ichabod Crane Schoolhouse.
