Columbia County and the Kinderhook area are easily accessible from the New York State Thruway (I-87 and I-90), the Taconic Parkway, and the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90).

To reach the Columbia County Museum, 5 Albany Avenue, Kinderhook:

From the East: Take I-90 West to exit B1. Go through the toll plaza and immediately take the ramp to the right following signs for Route 9 South and Hudson. At end of ramp, turn left onto Route 9 South.

Follow Route 9 South (bearing left at junction of Rte. 9 and 9H) approximately 7 miles until you reach the Village of Kinderhook. At the stoplight (intersection of Route 9 and Albany Avenue), turn right onto Albany Avenue. The Museum (a two-story brick structure) is the third building on the left.

From the West: Take I-90 East past Albany and cross the Hudson River. Follow I-90 until Exit 12, just before the toll. Turn right at end of ramp onto Route 9 South.
Follow Route 9 South (bearing left at junction of Rte. 9 and 9H) approximately 7 miles until you reach the Village of Kinderhook. At the stoplight (intersection of Route 9 and Albany Avenue), turn right onto Albany Avenue. The Museum (a two-story brick structure) is the third building on the left.
