stuffed & Stitched: Quilted Treasures from the Collection
March 2015 - November 2015
Drawn from our rich textile and costume collection, this exhibition featured a vibrant and diverse array of objects donated to the Historical Society over the past 90 years that were made or owned by county residents. Normally shielded from the harmful effects of light, delicate eighteenth- century quilted silk skirts were on display alongside nineteenth-century garments that were quilted for warmth. In addition to clothing, wholecloth, signature, patchwork and crazy quilts showcased extraordinary examples of the quilter’s needlework.
If you love one of our quilts, and want to support its archival preservation for the future, consider “adopting” it. ($500.00)
