Runway Style: Historic Fashions in Miniature
December 2010 - March 2011
In this special holiday-season exhibition, Columbia County Historical Society displayed sixteen of the many dresses in the collection all made by Miss Julia Patzwhal of Claverack and donated to the CCHS in 1986 by her family. Each costume stands about 18 inches tall; the miniature dresses are spectacular. The exhibition featured a series of Presidential Hostess dresses reproducing special occasion dresses worn by Mary Todd Lincoln, Angelica Van Buren--President Martin Van Buren's daughter-in-law who often served as the widower's hostess at official events—and First Lady Sarah Polk's inaugural ball gown.
